Running GNOME and KDE on windows

Its been almost a year since I switched from Linux to Mac as my development environment and the only time I get to use Linux is when deploying something on our server at work; which is pretty much boring because I'm just tunneling and interacting with the shell.

Linux have two most powerful desktop environment GNOME and KDE among others. These two get even exciting if you install composite window manager and today I just found out that these two can already run on top of windows. The two projects are http://cygnome.sourceforge.net/ and http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/ , basically these two runs on windows with the help the help of cygwin.

I feel like eve since cygwin was born, lots and lots of interesting stuff has become possible to windows users. Some doubt though that this type of project prevents users from totally switching to linux but I agree that this will clear-out the doubt first without messing up their systems. And if they're comfortable enough, then they can install linux on their systems.
